Which tablet is best for me?

I'm about to start my Freshmen year of college and I've been thinking about getting a tablet for school. I don't use my laptop as much as i used to since i got my iPhone last year. I basically use my laptop for music to my phone (i have 5, 000 songs) and school work. But after seeing many commercials for Windows tablets they look like they are practically a small memory computer. I need microsoft office for school obviously. I'd love to be able to take the tablet to class take notes with it and use it for homework. Practically use it for everything school. My budget is under $400 preferably around $299. If interface is a question i'd like basically it to be set up like a computer. I don't want an overpriced itouch so no to the ipad. Please help!

Thank you.

Any questions in answers i will answer by revising this question.

Added (1). I'd prefer Windows interface over Android. I'm familiar with both but more comfortable with Windows 8.

Get a Kindle Fire! I love mine.

You need a tablet with a keyboard. Doing word on a touchscreen is mindboggling slow. So I guess your only choice is a MS Surface and that runs 500. I don't know if that includes keyboard. HP has just come out with Win 8.0 laptop/tablet convertibles but I forget what they cost. I have an ASUS TF101 with keyboard android and that ran 600. Nexus 7.0 is supposed to be really good but that is android.

  • Which type of tablet should I get? I'm going to save up my money. I can't decide what tho. Its between iPad, Acer Laptop, or a microsoft surface tablet. The surface is more for school stuff, and thats okay because i already have a iphone and ipod for apple apps. My current laptop has a bunch of problems, but i really only use it to listen to music now. I'm trying to narrow everything down. Please give your opinions on the items
  • Which tablet should I ask for? So Christmas is coming and I really want a tablet but I don't know which one to ask for. I already have an iphone 5s so I don't need like a big phone. I would bring it with me all the time so it needs to be pretty portable but I don't really need something the size of a normal ipad. Any ideas?
  • Which tablet is best for me? - 1 I'm a student in 10th grade, and am buying a tablet to help with typing notes in school. I have an iPhone 5, but wanted something to play games on, watch videos, bring on long- car drives, browse the web, and as I mentioned type notes. I'm thinking of buying the iPad Air, iPad Mini, Surface 2 or Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.
  • Which one is better? Tablet or Laptop? My sister might be getting an Iphone soon, I will become very jealous of her new phone, so I want to get a gift for christmas to make it equal. Should I get a tablet or a laptop? I also want to be able to play Minecraft since all my friends play it. Which one should I get? My price limit is $300.
