Which Wi-Fi Router works best with a Zoom Docsis 3.0?

I set up my Zoom Docsis 3.0 Modem and connected it to my Apple Time Capsule which I use as a Base Station for Wi-Fi. Everything works fine, except I need to restart the modem everytime someone wants to join the Wi-Fi network. It's not a terrible inconvenience to have to restart the modem, but would you have any idea why that might be happening or how I can fix it? I suspect that the modem and router might be incompatible and both are possibly trying to assign IP addresses at the same time and that's causing the need to restart the modem. When I restart the modem, everything works fine, until someone tries to connect to the network from another device (eg.iPhone, iPad).

>It might not be the issue, maybe just check if any of your devices has a static ip already assigned coz >router might not have that ip in attached devices list,
>so it's trying to assign the same address to other devices.
>i also recommend to check the isp settings in router by logging to gui and see if you r having dynamic/static ip from isp

hope it helps

A modem will only assign one IP address unless it is a gateway device which also contains a router.

That being said,

It is not a good idea to connect multiple routers, without some network knowledge. It will work but would require proper configuration of both devices. Your wireless signals will interfere with each other if they're operating on the same wireless channel. A router also acts as a DHCP server to assign IP addresses, you only want one DHCP service running.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_Host_Configuration_Protocol

Your Apple Time Capsule should have router functionality with automatic DHCP IP addressing for all connected devices. See this: http://support.apple.com/.../kb/PH5140

Make sure your cable modem is connected to the WAN port on the Time Capsule and it is configured properly. Here is the manual.http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/TimeCapsule_SetupGuide.pdf

  • What's the difference between a cheap router and a good router? Just wanted to know the difference between a cheap router and an expensive router, I know that is a very broad question, I'm just a bit confused on how a router works. Does it increase my Internet speed on multiple devices? I get 50Mb per second, Well at least that's what I pay for. I have a PS3 two iPhones and a tablet, as well as a desktop PC that is wireless. Can anyone recommend an excellent router under $150
