Why are international calls barred on my iPhone 4s on EE's Tmobile network (UK)?

The problem is whenever I try to call abroad, I get a message saying international calls are barred. I use to make them before I got my iPhone so I'm not sure if it's a phone problem. I've called up T-mobile many times but they tell me international calls should be working and there's no issue.

Has anyone else come across this issue or know how to resolve it.

Check your settings about roaming, I'm pretty sure that you have roaming disabled. Also you should use 00 (Country Code) Number in order to send an international text. For example to send a sms to UK you should use 00 44 Number. Furthmore you should consider buying a travel sim card to use for international calls, text messages and data. The one that I use is http://www.mysims2go.com/. Another options is to use apps like WhatsApp and Viber but your friend should have these apps too.
