Why can't i play youtube videos in background/lock screen on my iphone anymore?

I always used to be able to do this, is there any way to still do it? Or is there any way to get an older version of the app that will alow me to do it? And does anyone know why they stopped this function? Very frustrating!

  • YouTube won't play in background? IPhone 4? I have an iPhone 4 and I can't get my YouTube to play in the background like when I hit the home button it turns off or when I lock it and press play it will play from my album from iTunes. I use the YouTube app. How can I get it to work?
  • Why won't YouTube won't play videos on my iPhone? My phone randomly stopped playing YouTube videos. It just shows that it is loading and never play. I have great Wi-Fi connection. Every other app including Netflix runs smoothly. It doesn't work on the app or browser. I cleared the cache on my browser. I reset my phone. My phone and the app are updated completely. I have no idea what to do.
  • WHY CAN'T I WATCH VIDEOS ON MY IPHONE, I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE I downloaded the new YouTube app from google. On my old iPod touch the videos would load fine but on my new iPhone they won't even play 10 seconds before it freezes and won't play! I reload the video and app and it still won't play, I even deleted it and installed it 10 times and still the same problem! Please help I really don't know what to do (plus these videos are checked to be able to watch on mobile devices)!
  • Why can't I play youtube videos on iPhone 4s? Youtube in safari and on the app no videos will load. It always say "can't load" in safari and playback error in the app. I can do anything else, I'm asking this from the iphone that it won't work on. So internet isn't the problem.
