Why do people spend $600 on the iPhone?
What I don't understand is why people spend $600+ on the NEWEST iPhone that maybe has 2-3 SMALL changes. Why don't they just WAIT until they can upgrade for free? Do people seriously waste that much money?

What will they do with the new phone really?! Making phone calls and Facebook?! $600 for that?!
When you can get it for free, it's going to be the oldest phone on the market.
Apple and other makers do this to turn profit. Keeps money coming in for them. It's just something you have to live with.
With contract it's about $300. When you buy a phone without contract it opens the possibility to sell the phone and upgrade more often(every few months).
The problem is not with money wasting but with the hype. It's a new phone with a bigger screen, different keyboard and redesigned apps. Nothing much different from the 5. People overhype and think it's the baddest mofo of them all. As much as I want an iphone 6, I wouldn't spend $600 on one.
People who waited in line to spend so much money on the new iPhone are society sheep. They'd give up so much money to be with the rest of the idiots.

Some don't want contracts, I agree that its always best to buy it on contract. If their money, I don't care what they spend it on, but I'm getting 6 when my contract is up.
