Why do people want bigger iPhone screens?

The new iPhone 6 is reported to have a bigger iPhone screen. Screen size in general seems to be the number one topic of discussion when it comes to smart phones and I still can't figure out why. Apple shrunk the iPad to the iPad Mini and now the iPhone is going to be bigger. Considering the iPad and iPhone are almost the same in function, why is it necessary to have a bigger screen? Why can't people just buy the iPad Mini instead? The biggest issue I see is how you put a phone that big into your pocket. Wouldn't it be uncomfortable to have a wallet sized phone in your pocket? I ask this question because I want to know if it's just me that finds a big screen absurd and somewhat counterproductive.

I like the size of iphone 5S, but I can see where some people want bigger or some even prefer smaller like iphone 4S.

My mother in law loves her iPhone for its ease of use, but both her and her husband complain the screen is too small to play the Mahjong game because the tiles are so tiny.

I have a Galaxy S4 and it fits in my pocket or my wife just throws hers into her purse.

Because people are crazy with iPhone

Because they want something about Apple to change in regards to looking like other smartphones whose screens are huge. Apple hasn't changed the formula for iPhone since they first came out.

Personally, i prefer the size of the iPhone now. One of the main reasons I won't switch to an Android is because of the SIZE. I have small hands and I'd rather be able to use my phone easily, with one hand etc. They're also easier to hold.

The Galaxy NOTE is something I don't get either, it's literally the size of a tablet, where are you going to put that?!
