Why do rich people hate it when you call them rich?

I remember this one girl I new from school had a brand new iphone with an expensive case covered in jewelry. Someone said "Wow, you're really rich!" and she was offended.

Maybe she was offended that a dirty peasant talked to her.

Mostly because rich people NEVER consider themselves rich enough.

Are you serious? One incident with one girl over one phone, and you're calling all rich people hateful? Calm down.

If she was doesn't mean all are. I'm not

My uncle is a millionaire, but uses a flip phone and drives around in a used pickup truck, so you can't always judge a person by their phone, clothing or car.

I've known people that are on welfare and poor, but yet somehow they can afford an I-phone.

1. Because they are often judged based on how much money it's assumed they have

2. The girl in your post wasn't rich… MAYBE her family was (and the phone could've been a gift from anyone, so it wasn't a definite indication of the financial status of her family)

Don't you mean "why don't eccentric people hate it when you call them rich?"?

Many are arrogant and think they are better than others.
She was being a snob.
