Why do some people try to show off their expensive gadgets?
Like they always keep their iPhone on their hand or wear sunglasses and try to act cool and what not. In reality, they're just losers with no life. So why do people do this? Are they just really insecure?
Insecurity.
FULL OF THEMSELVES.
They are just like pack rats who find a bit of shiny paper and stash it.
My friend says she loves to provoke jealousy. This is her motivation for some of these types of actions.
Other people are just born very wealthy and could not imagine buying something from Wal Mart.
There are many who try to convince people of their worth by displaying expensive gadgets. Some are gadget rich but live in a flop house atmosphere.
It is complicated.
Shallow narcissism.makes me laugh when an obese does it. I always say "if you spent as much money on the gym and dieting, you would not be in such a state".
Since this question is in this section, the Bible points out that this "showy display" of life does not originate with God, but it originates with the world. (1 John 2:15, 16) So people do this ignoring the fact that they should put these things to the side because they have to keep up with these things, and instead should seek God in their lives because Proverbs 16:18 states, "Prides is before a crash." So people who try to show off their gadgets put themselves in a situation where they can easily lose everything they worked so hard for in a matter of moments.

- Why do so many people go crazy for new gadgets and technology? Queue up for days just to be the first to get a new iPhone… Upgrading things when the old one works just fine… Why do people want the newest "in" thing so much? What's wrong with buying a phone and keeping it for 5 years until it breaks down and THEN replacing it?
- Why do poor people care more about their image and buying nice clothes than feeding their family or paying bills? I see tons of poor people who make less than 20k a year spending their entire income on nice clothes and shoes and purses and makeup. Their children are starving they can't even afford to use the air conditioner or pay for electricity but they absolutely need to buy a new iPhone or a new pair of high heels
- Why do people go crazy over the iPhone and other expensive cell phones? Some of those phones cost more than rent. I've never understood why someone would pay over $100 for a phone.
- I sent a text message to someone who has their phone off right now. Will they see it when they turn their phone on? We both have iPhones so I sent it on iMessage but sent it as a text message after since the message didn't say delivered. Will they still see it when their phone is on?
