Why do young people today have such terrible grammar and spelling?
I'm 14 and my grammar and spelling are spot on, if I use improper grammar or spell a word incorrect, it is because I was typing too fast and IPhone did not correct it. Why do other people my age have such terrible pronunciation, grammar, an spelling? Can anyone tell me? For example, they don't know the difference between "your" and "you're". They say "drownd" instead of "drown". And nobody I know besides myself is a good speller. Can someone help out here?
I'm 14 and my grammar and spelling are spot on. FULL STOP NEW SENTENCE If I use improper grammar or spell a word incorrect INCORRECTLY, it is because I was typing too fast and iPhone did not correct it. Why do other people my age have such terrible pronunciation, grammar, an AND spelling? Can anyone tell me? For example, they don't know the difference between "your" and "you're". They say "drownd" DROWNED instead of "drown". And nobody I know besides myself is a good speller. Can someone help out here?
:-) Many adults don't know the difference between your and you're, spell appallingly, and mispronounce words so I wouldn't worry too much.
I do think that spell checks make us lazy. Why bother to remember the correct spelling when your gadget will correct it? I used to be excellent at spelling but it's easier to spellcheck that remember words like embarrassing. Autocucumber makes a total embarrassing mess of what you did intend to say and mine is permanently switched off. When I write by hand I spell much better as the words just look and feel wrong as I write them.
Because they r not learning proper way and lack of practice.
Perhaps because it is not taught or emphasized in school. When I was in school we were taught how to spell and so on, were tested on what we were taught, and lost marks on essays for mistakes in the English in them. You're not as good as you think you are, by the way. It should have been "incorrectly", not "incorrect", you forgot the d on the end of the and in one sentence, and your punctuation in the first sentence is poor. You made it into a run-on sentence when it should have been two sentences.
Because it is a chat not an essay idiot
Well I know loads of teens your age who are great at spelling (When not on social networking) one person in my school is top of the class I mean he can spell like mad he even ends up correcting the teachers. He can even spell Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (that word from Mary Poppins had to search it up and copy and paste it here) from his head with no help. So only some well in my country anyway are bad at spelling and pronouncing words.
Unfortunately, the texting lingo has become increasingly used, and as a consequence, proper grammar has become less and less important. I admire you, as I still thing proper grammar and spelling are important. The way that most people type things these days makes them look stupid, even when that isn't the case.
People are lazy. People don't read as much, resulting in underdeveloped vocabularies. People text so much, they use it in real life. People don't care.
You are typing fast people do not take the time to rewrite it. Some people are not good in English.
Devolution of the species, exacerbated by a mass media that makes semi-literacy seem oh-so-cool…
Bcause it takes a lots of time typing all of that wen you can just say things quicker
Very funny the amount of mistakes here.
- Why does the FBI have such a hard time cracking iPhone encryption. Why don't they just use the spy agencie's methods of using spyware? All you need is their phone number, and a cheap piece of software and you have access to everything on the phone (including deleted info) Why make a huge scene about it, when there are much easier ways to bypass lock screen encryption? You don't even need access to the phone, it can remotely install with just one phone call to the number too… Just saying, if the FBI really wanted in, it would be very easy
- Why do young people love iPhones so much? I'm 22 years old (so I'm young myself) and I honestly don't see the fascination with them. Nowadays, you get really good androids that are just as good and cheaper too. I have a Windows 8 phone and I love it. I'm not bashing iPhone users. I only want to know why a lot of young people (especially girls) favour them over other just as good smartphones. Is it really true that a lot of people have more money than sense?
- Why do people like apple products such as iphones and macbooks? IN terms of phones Androids are BY FAR the superior device and also why would you spend over $1000 dollars on a macbook pro when you can get a toshiba touchscreen laptop with 1000 gigabytes worth of storage for only $699? Seriously i would like to know.
- Is there an an iphone application for spelling and grammar? I'm looking for an iphone application that if I type in text messages that it can grammar check them prior to sending then and spelling as well. I know that spell check exists on iphone. But when I was texting a girl I kept using the wrong Their and there and than and then. And was wondering if there's a way on a phone to correct that mistake prior to sending.
