Why does charging an iPhone over night hurt it, and how can I help it?

Okay. Does my battery die quickly because I charge it over night? And does it kinda mess it up? I've heard it does that. If so, then how and when do I charge my iPhone? How can I make it so my battery life lasts longer?

Charge the phone only when it needs to be charged. If it doesn't need to be charged over night then don't leave it on the charger all night.

You may or may not know this but if you double click the home button. It shows you all of the apps that are open and then just delete them. It says power, also turn your Wi-Fi off.

Any phone (or battery for that matter) should not be left on a charger longer than recommended by the manufacturer.

Most phones will be fully charged after 2 hours. Set an alarm so that after 2 hours on the charger you will be alerted to take it off.

Leaving the phone of the charger for over 2 hours or charging the phone when it is not about to die or dead is detrimental to the battery life OVER TIME. This is normally why people see their battery life only lasts a few hours by the end of their 2 year contract.

Just take care of your battery by charging it when it is about to die to dead for maximum 2 hours. Another thing to help is about once a month let the phone die COMPLETELY and charge it for 2 hours while it is off.

the maximum amount of time required for your iPhone to charge completely dose not exceed 3 hours. It doesn't matter even if you charge it less than 50 percent, but if you overcharge it, the electrons in the battery will become hyper active, gradually but dramatically decreasing battery life in a short span of time.
