Why does my 16GB iphone only have 13.25GB capacity?
I think it's kind of strange that my 16GB iPhone only has a memory capacity of 13.25GB. Does anybody know why this is? I assume it's because that's how much memory is left after the operating system is installed, but I think it's rather bizarre to advertise it as 16GB when that's not what you'll actually be able to use.
Any phone, computer, laptop etc will have some of it's capacity occupied by the operating system
Because part of the GB is used for the phones operating system, firmware and for any updates for the phone. It the same thing with your laptop, desktop, tablet and video game system.
Do you think it runs on thin air? Obviously it needs some space.
A 16gb iPhone only has 13.25gb of space because of the apple apps downloaded onto the device. Such as stuff like FaceTime, contacts, ect take up space and apple along with many other companies don't provide you with the whole 16gb of space/storage when it is freshly bought.
- Will a 16GB iPhone 5 have 16GB of space? I want to get an iPhone 5 and the 16GB will suffice, however I'm concerned about the actual space. I have a 32GB iPod Touch but according to iTunes the maximum space available is 28.5GB. Could I expect this sort of thing to happen on the iPhone?
- Why is my iphone over capacity? I only have like 9 apps and not even 100songs on it? I'm trying to add pictures to it but its saying its over capacity and its also going really slow, i've token out half of my apps and deleted most of my pictures too but nothing helps

I Have a16 Gb iphone and i currently have 1,140 songs which takes up 8 gb total according to itunes, keep in mind that i have over 1 gb free, so i decided to add a few more songs and tried to sync but then it said over capacity by 302 mb i don't get it, How can i be over the capacity by 300 mb if i have at least 1gb available?/ can someone please explain this!
- Why does my Iphone 4 only have 6.3 GB of storage when it's supposed to have 8GB? I looked in the "usage" section and it says that I have: 4.6 GB used and 1.7 GB available Shouldn't I have 3.4 more GB available because I have 8gb of storage? I'm kind of confused.
