Why does my face look deformed in front camera selfies?

So, when I look at myself in the mirror I look quite normal. And when somebody else takes a picture of me with a normal camera I look fine too. But if I take a selfie using the front camera on my iPhone, I look like I've had a stroke. One eye is smaller that the other and one half of my face is more droopy than the other.
I know that when looking in a mirror we see a flipped image of ourselves, but does that mean that the deformed face I see when taking a front camera selfie is what I actually look like? And is that what other people see when they look at me too? Because if that s what everyone else sees, I have no idea how I have a boyfriend!

The camera of a phone makes people look uglier than they are because of
1) bad coloring and lighting, and flash
2) distortion. In the lens

the smaller the lens, the harder it is to shape it perfectly in the factory. As you may assume. Almost all microscopic phone lenses distort faces slightly.

the backwards reflection may have something to do with it, but not much.

also: photos in general are very bad representations of what we look like in real life because. They are still snapshots. And you can only Truly know what someone looks like from seeing a video from a good camcorder.
