Why does my IPhone hotspot disconnect every time I join the Wi-Fi and what can I do to fix it?

I don't have any data right now but I do have Wi-Fi and I want to establish a hotspot with my other phone (Samsung). But every time I turn on my hotspot it disconnects from the Wi-Fi and the other phone can't connect. And when I try to go back on the Wi-Fi I get a message that reads "Joining the network (my home network) will disconnect personal hotspot users. What can I do to resolve this issue and connect to my hotspot?

If you are trying to hotspot with Wi-Fi it doesn't work like that, you usually use data for such things. If you are trying to use hotspot when having access to Wi-Fi why would you go for a hotspot?

You can't simultaneously from a single device connect it to an existing Wi-Fi network and use it to create its own Wi-Fi network. Any device (phone, tablet, computer, etc) can only be part of ONE Wi-Fi network at a time.

  • Why does my IPad disconnect from my iPhone hotspot after brief inactivity? Both devices are on the newest iOS. I use the hotspot from my iPhone to access internet on my iPad but if I put the iPad down for a minute or two, it will lose connection and I have to turn the personal hotspot off on the iPhone and then back on again. Is it supposed to be like this? Pretty please help me.
  • Why does my internet disconnect for a few seconds and then reconnect? I have had this problem for months now, and I haven't had any luck with fixing it. We have gone through 4 different routers and 2 different modems. I have tired disabling stuff and uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. This happens on all devices: ipods, xbox, computer, laptop, iphones. Does anyone know why this is?!
