Why does my snapchat camera suck but everyone's elses doesn't? - 1

Okay so first of all I don't use my snapchat, I just use it for the camera I have nobody on it, but I have instagram and I always see people posting pictures that they obviously took with the snapchat camera cause it'll show like the screenshot and everything, and there picture is like high quality and perfect, mines on the other hand comes out blurry and gross. I don't understand? I have the iphone 5s by the way.

Cameras

You have to realize that your phone's camera can be used without Snapchat or Instagram.

Then you have to consider that your phone's camera is just a feature.

Worse of all, you are taking pictures with a phone.

Sounds like it's a problem with your skills then doesn't it?

It's not the camera. It's your inability to make a good photo with the cam… Er, uh, I mean smartphone that you're using as a camera. Realize that the camera module in the Apple iPhone costs about $10 off of eBay. Now, do you really expect that a $10 camera has the ability to be used like a real camera? Of course not. Because of the simplicity of smartphone's camera, one can easily find themselves in common shooting situations that are beyond the shooting capabilities of the phone.

The more successful images on Instagram were made by those who understand the limitations of their cameras, and how to work around them to achieve good results. Moreover, they understand the basics of photography including the various qualities of light, exposure, and especially composition theory.

Blurry shots are caused when you are using a shutter speed too slow to stop the movement of your subject, or, too slow of a shutter speed to stop the motion of your hands. This is known as camera shake.

How are you taking photos? Are you holding your arms out with the phone 2' away from your face? If so, STOP IT! That's the wrong way to hold a camera or phone. You need your elbows close to your side with the camera closer to you. This creates a more stable platform. Your other option, and probably the best option too, is to use a tripod to prevent camera shake.

Your should read up on exposure and composition. There are plenty of YouTube videos explaining it all. If you want a real book, then Brian Peterson's "Understanding Exposure" is a great one that explains the basics.

  • Why does my iphone battery suck? It was fine when I first got it, it would hold a charge all day even if I was on it a lot. Now the battery sucks and I'm charging it like three times a day at least even if I'm barely on it. What can I do to fix this? The apple store told me to restart it but that did nothing.
