Why does the sound of my iPhone goes off while it's charging

Why does the sound of my iPhone 3GS goes off while it's charging? Yesterday I updated my iOS 4.3.3 to 6.1.3, and today, I plugged it to the charger while music was playing, and the speakers.kinda.turned off. But the "play" emblem was still there. When I unplugged the charger, the music proceeded playing. What's the problem?

I had the same problem. Simply get a new charger.

Are you using a 3rd party charger? Yeah! I agree with the 1st reply you should get a new one. Make sure it's from Apple.

  • Wouldn't turning off iPhone while charging shorten battery life? They say the iPhone has a battery life of 400 full charge cycles before it starts its decline. Ok here is the thing… A lot of talk on how to save battery life on the iPhone by charging habits such as turning the phone off while charging, airplane mode while charging, turn off Wi-Fi bluetooth etc… But if the phone charges faster… Wouldn't that increase the amount of full charge/discharge cycles and there for decreasing the life of the battery?

  • My iPhone battery goes down even though it says it's charging? I'm noticing today that my charger isn't the same. It's always worked before but now when I plug it in, I see the little charging symbol on the corner, but the battery percentage goes down slowly. My charger is designed so that when my phone is plugged in, a red line goes on. Now the light is turning on and off, but the charge symbol remains no matter what. I have to stay at a certain position for the light to stay.
