Why doesn't the iPhone have a physical keyboard? - 1

Doesn't need one

Cost and it would make the phone more than double the thickness.

If you want a physical keyboard, there are a number of Bluetooth ones.

If you want a phone with a physical keyboard buy a different phone. The iPhones are with a digital keyboard like most other phones now a days. Because that's what most people, the customers want

Two reasons. "Bob" mentioned one… The iPhone has a virtual keyboard. The other reason is if it did, we would not call it an iPhone… It would be 10 years ago and we would call it a "Blackberry".

Um

It's a step backward in technology.

It doesn't need it plus I prefer virtual over the old fashioned physical keyboard as it makes less noise

It has a Touchscreen you Gimp

Apple wanted to be different than the trend of smartphones at the time & it worked out for the better. Android phones in development at the time were leaning towards a BlackBerry design, but after the iPhone debuted it shifted more towards that design.

For the same reason that Android phones don't have them.
