Why don't my audio technica ath m50's sound as good as the beats studio?
I went to the mall recently and there was a verizon store, so we went in and there was a floor model of the beats by dr dre. I go over to them and put on the excecutive and plug them into my iphone 4, and what i hear coming out of those things is amazing. The highs are so clear and the low's are very good. ( but my m50's go lower than them.) then i take those off and put on the studio, i get the same effect.one thing that i like about the beats is how airy and comfprtable they are.
Like any other night i stick my headphones on ( the m50's ) and plug them into my ipad.start the music and can't help but ponder on why my ath m50's don't sound as good as the beats studio, or excecutive. So i'm turning to yahoo answers for an explanation.
i'm not using any amp with my headphones and am usually only plugging them into my ipad. I have heard that an amp will usually help a headphone's sound, so have started searching around for a good one. But stick to the main question… WHY DON't MY ATH M50'S SOUND AS GOOD AS BEATS BY DR DRE! THIS IS Really ANNOYING ME NOW. Please TELL ME WHAT's HAPPENING AND IF THERE'S ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO TO get rid of it. ( that last part want supposed to be in caps)
High-end (very good) headphones mostly DO NEED an amplifier with portable music devices, that's why!
I'm pretty sure the M50 is objectively better than Beats. The frequency response of M50 is flatter (and as you said it goes really low) than Beats but the latter is more warm in a sense.
I can only see two things here. It's either you have a defective M50 or your ears are more suited to Beats. I would suggest you listen to Beats longer so you can really gauge if you like them more than M50.

- Will Audio-Technica ATH-M50's work without an amplifier? I'm looking to get the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones. I would mostly be using them with my iPhone 4 and my Macbook Pro 13". I listen to all sorts of music, from folk metal, hip hop, jazz, and pop. I don't know much about these higher levels of headphones but I know this pair is very good for the price. I have read a bit about portable amplifiers, but I don't know what that really is and if it would be necessary.
- What color beats studio should I get? Also what iPhone 6s plus should I get? Think of the coolest colors. I'm thinking of blue, pink, black, or white for the beats. And pink or space grey for the iPhone 6s. What do you guys think? btw i'm a 13 years boy iPhone 6s plus
- Static in left ear of Beats by Dre Studio? I just bought them yesterday and i LOVE them so far, but this morning when i plugged them into my mac, there was a cracking static in the left ear. They worked fine on my iphone 4 last night, but there was suddenly the crackle this morning. How do i fix it?
- My wireless studio beats disconnect from my iPhone when I change songs? I just got my wireless studio beats and I can sync them with my iPhone, but they will only play the first song I select, and if I change the song, my beats instantly disconnect from my iPhone.
