Why I look horrid with camera flash (pics)?

I have posted 4 photos 2 with flash 2 without taken with iphone back camera. I'm so unphotogenic! Not looking for attention I really think I look gross and different with flash is this normal?

You don't look gross at all, your eyes are really pretty and I thought that before I read your comment. The flash is rarely anyone's friend

There's nothing wrong with the pictures except you look glum. Try smiling, just a bit.

If you are on about the bightness of your face and you have makeup on, it's because of the spf in your foundation/ concealer etc. X

No one looks great in low light and with a poor quality phone camera. It's because the flash is not too bright and the camera lens is tiny.

Get someone to take a photo with a proper camera in natural light and smile!

We get this type of question a lot…

Smartphone cameras produce a 'distorted' image… When taking a picture you really should be at least 3 feet away from your 'subject'… The angle that you hold the smartphone at isn't 'flattering' either - you could try keeping the smartphone level (no tilting) and to make matters even more difficult, 'flash' is unflattering most of the time (I tend to avoid flashlight and i've been taking photos for over 20 years)… It isn't easy to get a good 'selfie' with a smartphone…

You aren't 'unphotogenic' you just aren't using the best equipment to get a decent 'image'

Try finding yourself a boyfriend who is interested in photography… Or buy a dedicated camera and a tripod and learn to use the self timer.

Not 'unphotogenic' just bad quality photos with reflected colour casts. If you got some better lighting… Maybe by a window with a pretty vase of flowers or something and just let the flash be fill-in flash I'm sure you'd be a lot happier.
