Why is my AT&T unlocked iPhone 5 connected with tmobile on E?
Isn't it suppose to be on 4g/3G?
It depends what area you live in. It will never be 4g LTE, but it may be "4g" HSPA because T mobile is switching there frequency from 1700 to 1900 to match AT&T's. Why do you just sell the AT&T Iphone and get a T-Mobile Iphone for $99 down that way you can get your true 4g speeds and HD voice.
The reason why you are getting E, which stands for EDGE which is 2G by the way, is because T-Mobile uses different frequencies for their 3G network than what the iPhone used, so the iPhone goes to the next one it could access that being the 2G/EDGE network. Been that way for years now.
They are however introducing iPhone friendly 3G/4G towers now that they do sell the phone officially so it would be a matter of time.

- Will an unlocked iphone 4S work for tmobile if it isn't factory unlocked? I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.

Now do you think it's worth it to save $650 for a factory unlocked iPhone. Or save a few bucks in buying an AT&T iPhone and jailbreaking it? What are the pros and cons of it. What do you think?
