Why is my iPhone dying so quickly and won't turn on?

My iPhone 4s was purchased last Christmas so it is fairly new. But for the last two months or so I have been experiencing rapid battery loss. I have to travel with a portable charger because even with out use it will drop from 100% to 30% in about 40 minutes. I have literally watched it go from 75% to 13%, skipping all the numbers in between and giving me a notification that I have less than 20%.It baffles me how quickly it loses percentage and how it skips numbers. It also will die at any amount (I have seen it die at 94%) and refuse to turn on without a charger. All of my settings that drain the battery have been turned off and I have double clicked and deleted running apps. After talking with a knowledgeable technician we decided to do a factory reset but before I got the chance my phone died and has been plugged in for over 6 hours now and refuses to turn on. All it shows is the red battery symbol and a lightning bolt which phones usually do before they turn on. But most phones do not six hours. Please help if you are an expert or have any ideas. I have tried all the obvious stuff and even though very unlikely could it be a virus? Is it a battery shortage? The problem just seems to be worsening.

Replace your battery.

Well first of all, deleting apps won't help. Believe me, i know from personal experience.
Anyway, the rapid battery loss might be a result of you not charging your iPhone whenever it was needed, or if you had ever unplugged your phone and used it while it was still charging. This could be a huge problem because if you unplug your phone while its still charging, the battery will remember how much battery life there's chaged (for ex. 45%) and then from then on it will only charge 45% of yoyr battery.

If this is a huge problem, there are tons of websites where you can buy additional batteries for your phone, and then either replace them yourself or go to a special place where they do that for you. You can buy batteries on websites like ebay, kijiji, but just never go on craigslist, everything is fake.

Yep, so anyway hope i helped! (Like my answer.

  • IPhone battery dying quickly? About two months ago, i dropped my phone & is badly cracked. Just this morning, my phone was on 83% and just went automatically to 1% and it happened about 3 times this morning. This has happened before. Can anyone help me?
  • IPhone 4S battery life dying quickly? I don't do much on my phone, just music, homework, and sometimes play games. I don't have the brightness high and I turned notification off. And it still dies fast. It can go too 100% to 70% in about an hour just listening to music. I think one reason is that I barely turn the phone off. Or maybe the new iOS 6 update. I've had this phone for almost 6 months. So what should I do?
