Why is my iphone So slow on 3G network?

I have an iphone 4s and have begun to realize that it is so slow on 3g network when I do not have Wi-Fi nearby but when I'm on a Wi-Fi network, it is fine.
Please help!
I'm not sure if I should restore it to factory settings or what else to do.
I appreciate any input, thank you.

Close out of all apps after use by double clicking the home button and clicking the little red line and delete apps not used or delete your web browsing history finally if non of that works go to settings>general>reset>reset network settings hope I helped
