Why is stuff on ebay so cheap?

I'm just curious to know lol.
I recently bought 4 phone cases for my iphone 5. They're unbelievably cheap.
They were all in new and great condition, plus with free shipping: D
And when you buy it in the mall they literally rip you off. It's like $50-60… And you can actually buy it on ebay and get like 95% off.
I'm waiting for another case I bought I'm so excited I can't even wait!

I bought a glitter hard case case for 99 cents,
a leopard bling hard case for $2.59
diamond bow hard case for $4.85 (bought from a top rated seller)
white silicone hello kitty bow case for $3.99

Ebay has its products so cheap because,
1. All the prodcuts are not with 100% Quality.
2. No Business people will do business without profit.
3. They are more cheaper than your think.

This is a good question and has several answers.

1) It could be someone illegit who has stolen multiples of an items and is looking to get rid of it quick.

2) Dependent on the source it may be from a seller outside of the US or with an outsource supply that can offer lower then retail prices.

3) Some people buy items and just do not like them and then sell them off well below what they paid.

4) Some items could have been a gift or received free in some manner and are now being sold.

Direct from china, no retail overhead

Some people in the US buy it from other countries that make it so cheap and when they sell it to you they still make money. Sometimes the buyer cares more about getting rid of the item than how much he makes for it or sometimes you just get ripped off

Many of them are second hand, the seller don't pay vat or any tax, some of them are rubbers, and some of the actions don't show the option buy it now

I hate to burst your bubble but a lot of the stuff you described is made in China with little regard to whether there are toxic chemicals etc in them. Of course you can make stuff very cheap if there's no regard for consumer safety.

They mostly like come from china where it usually cheap to buy and ship. Deal Extreme has the same cases for around the same prices.

The some time a legit reason. I at times would buy form liquidation sales and resell them on Ebay. Other cases I suspect with the case somebody is going out of business and they are dumping their stock. The sell chap to get some of their investment back and writ of the rest.

Yes you need to look out for knock off products. Always look for the tag or stamp; there needs to be a copyright notice with two years on them, the date of the character creation and the date of the item creation. For example, a Hello Kitty item created in 2013 should have 1976 (date of Hello Kitty creation ), 2013 (date of the item creation. ).
