Why is the iPhone losing out to chinese devices in asia?

Because Apple is more about a cult sort of symbolic interactionism, than it is solid technology. These Chinese devices are likely cheaper, more powerful, and far more practical.

Are you more concerned with your image (in the eyes of your dumb-*** "friends"), or getting your money's worth? Which in this dichotomy would you imagine is best suited for a consumer culture?

YOU ARE NOT YOUR CELLPHONE.

They are cheaper

Hint IPhone is made in China

  • Why is there Chinese text on my son's new iphone 5? Bought the phone new from Best Buy. His phone is set to English language, but he stil has Chinese text in settings. Any idea what is going on?
  • Why is my new tab page on iPhone 4S in Chinese? I just updated my iPhone 4S to ios7 and when I'm on safari and click a new tab the "home" page shows sites like Wikipedia and iCloud but the labels are in Chinese for some reason? I don't speak Chinese I've never had my phone in Chinese at all so I don't know why this happened and does anyone know how to fix it? The phone is already set to English but still Safari is Chinese.
  • Why are there Chinese characters with Unihan code but do not have a definition? Sometimes I may randomly draw a Chinese character out on the iphone and it matches an existing character, but why is it that when I search it, it doesn't have a definition. I try looking in the unicode databases but still there's no definition and sometimes no pronunciation. Is it because the character's are too old that there's no definition or what. Why would they have a character without meaning?
  • Why are the Chinese so obsessed with the color gold? Seriously. I read somewhere that the new gold IPhone has broken sales records for Apple with this new color in China. I really think it's a tacky color. (IMHO) Here in the US I would never consider a gold colored ANYTHING! My favorite color here is black. Elegant, timeless, (what I think) gold colored makes me think of abstemious and noveau riche' people with more money than taste. What say you?
