Why isn't Nintendo releasing mario & ice on any other platform?

People are copying their style and miking huge money with it, look at flappy bird, for instance. Isn't it a proof of how big the costumer group would be for it? Is it something to do with company's ego, of there's one? Like apple's? If the demand is getting bigger, years after years, then why not? I could understand for pokemon, but games like mario? Either way, they would win at it… No?

Are they just following the marketing's rule 'less is more'? Like, rarity of a product, like iphone, or nintendo, will make people buying it more?

Or something else?

Nintendo releases their first party exclusives on their own consoles because if they don't and, say, some franchises were ported to iOS then their consoles would not sell. Although they'd get more software sales, they'd have to withdraw from the console market. This is something Nintendo is unwilling to do as they think of themselves as innovative when making the consoles. (Which they are.) Games sell consoles, 3DS is proof. More money, more likely. It's a profit deal.
