Will Apple replace my crack iPhone 6 if it still under warranty?

Like I just drop my iPhone 6 the other day with a shattered screen and I noticed that I only had my iPhone for less than a year. So I was thinking about taking it to Apple to get it replace for free instead of paying.
Is that true?

If you purchased AppleCare+ then you will have an extra year warranty, plus two claims for accidental damage. You will still have to pay a small excess, it varies on the screens but it will be less than the whole unit which is a flat rate of £55 (£79 for 6s and 6s Plus).

If you did not purchase AppleCare+, the cracked screen will be classed as 'user error' and will not be covered under Apple's Standard 'Limited' Warranty.

An Apple technician will be able to assess damage and either give you a price for a replaced screen or whole unit, depending on internal damage.

If you go to your 'local guy' it will not be an Apple Authorised technician. There are ways to tell if an iPhone has been tampered with by someone unauthorised, and therefore will void all warranty, and also Apple will never touch it again even if you pay them.
