Will game stop track me down? Or will the police come and find me?

So I was at a wrestling tournament and when the matches started I was working concessions when I noticed something on the stairs I went up to it and it was an iPhone. I waited for someone to come back but no one did After the tournament I went to GameStop and sold it. If they deactivate the phone will GameStop or the police pursue me?

Because I was think yes because it has your number. But is that true? It's not traceable if you take the SIM card out. But if not is there a way and how?
  • How long will the Singapore Police find a lost iPhone? Will there be a chance to find it? I lost my phone yesterday and no calls today whatsoever. I can't contact my phone either because the battery died and if i'm not mistaken I put it on call forwarding before I lost it. My phone battery was also low and I texted a lot of times but no reply. P.S: My phone has a lock. And no battery so they'd have to purchase it if they want to use it. Also, I didn't connect it to iCloud.
