Will I be charged extra for using 3G?
I don't have a data plan.
On my iPhone, i've turned off the cellular data in the settings. But 3G was on and I didn't know. I did use internet these past few days in places with low Wi-Fi reception. I'm not sure if I ended up using the 3G or Wi-Fi. Is it even possible to use 3G if cellular data is turned off?
Suppose I did use 3G, will my phone company charge me extra, even though cellular data was off?

It depends on your data plan. My data plan is 200 mb. I keep my data off so i don't go over it. If your data plan is unlimted it doesn't really matter. If you go over your data plan you will be charged an extra $15 which happens to me alot. You won't be charged extra if you don't go over the limit and i'm charged $15 every month for a standard 200mb plan. It comes with every smartphone whether you want it or not.
- Will using my iPhone's hotspot cost extra money? I have an iPhone 4s (which is up to date on all IOS updates) and I have the unlimited data plan at AT&T. I'm leaving for a road trip tomorrow, and I wanted to turn the hotspot on so I could use that Wi-Fi on my laptop during the trip so I won't get bored. It says I need to set up an account for it, which I will do later… But would any extra charges be added to my bill?

I'm using my iPhone which has telstra sim in it and my parents pay for that number. - Will I get charged for using my iPhone abroad? I'm going to Holland tomorrow and I was wondering if I would get charged for taking my phone with me? I'm on a pay monthly contract but it doesn't include roaming/ international things… I'm with the 3 network if that makes a difference… I won't be calling anyone or making texts but I'll probably be using Wi-Fi? Will I get charged just for taking my phone to a different country even if I don't use it at all? Any help appreciated, Thanks.
