Will iphone 3gs receive updates after ios6?

As apple have now discontinued iphone 3gs… Will future ios versions will support 3gs?

You can install iOS 6 onto your iPhone 3GS, but afterwards, I highly doubt it. It is just going to be too old of a model. Usually, a new iOS comes out when a new iPhone comes out, which will be next year, and they usually only let the past 3 models of iPhones install the new iOS system. Obviously, there won't be much of a difference on a 3GS with iOS 6 because it doesn't have the capabilities and system of the iPhone 5, 4S or 4.So in conclusion, most likely no. Most likely the next iPhone will be the iPhone 5S, and then the new iOS will be available to the iPhone 5, 4S and 4. Hopefully I answered your question.

No. It is believed that the only reason the 3GS is compatible with iOS 6 is because Apple were selling the 3GS in their stores up until the announcement of the iPhone 5. Any iOS above iOS 6 will probably be too much for the hardware of the 3GS to handle.
