Will iphone 5 work as ipod overseas?

I have an iphone 5 with AT&T. I will travel this week and I was wondering if my phone will work overseas as an ipod on the places that have internet.

My phone is not unlocked. I just want to use it for a few days there.

You can use the music player all the time. It doesn't require an Internet connection. You can use all other apps that require an Internet connection with Wi-Fi.

Yes.

Yea it should. To avoid roaming charges put it on Airplane Mode for the duration of the time there. You could turn on Wi-Fi afterwards to use that.

  • Will an iPhone bought in the US work overseas? I recently bought an iPhone 6 from AT&T in the US, but I'm moving to China in a few weeks, and I'm wondering if I can still use my phone there. I have a few relatives who work in China, and they suggest that I use China Unicom, so I'm using that carrier. Is there any way I can unlock the phone, or just be able to use the phone in China?

  • Should I bring my iPhone overseas? I'm in the Air Force and I'm going to Turkey in July for 15 months and I don't know if I should bring my iPhone or buy a phone over there or what.
  • My iPhone 4S won't work overseas? I have a contract with T-Mobile on EE in the United Kingdom on my iPhone (and my iPhone is locked on the T-Mobile/EE network). Today, I came over to the US With my iPhone 4S and it didn't re-connect to any network the way that my BlackBerry (which is locked on O2) did. How do I deal with this? I'm here for quite awhile before going home and I don't want to go back to using my BB or invest in a new phone. Does anyone have any suggestions?
