Will my unlocked Sprint iPhone4s work in the Philippines?
According to Apple's website the iPhone4s frequency operates at the following ranges:
UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz);
GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

In the Philippines the GSM frequencies operate at:
GSM Frequency Band - 1800 MHz (Single Band)
3G Frequency Band- WCDMA (UMTS) 850Mhz/1900Mhz/2100 MHz
UMTS/3G 1900(uplink)/2100(downlink) (Dual Band)

My USA Sprint iPhone 4s has been unlocked so theoretically a SIM card purchased in Manila should allow me to get a Philippines phone number.
Theoretically this should work but I wanted to confirm from actual USA travelers to the Philippines if their unlocked Sprint iPhone 4s worked with a local SIM card.
Added (1). I want to get a SIM card (new phone number) and also a pre-paid calling card. The calling card should allow me to make all the local calls in the Philippines as well as international calls from the Philippines to the USA.
Will this approach work and has anybody done this?
It will cost money if you use it for roaming fees
Well, my Sprint iPhone 4s is unlocked and I'm able to use my Smart sim card on roaming with it. But then, my iPhone is jailbroken.
I'm in PI, coming from USA, with unlocked iPhone 4s. I buy a Globe sim, put it in, and it works ok. Unfortunately it only works "OK". Local phones seem to have much better reception. For some reason when others have 4 bars, I only have 1 or 2. My daughter has similar results with her Samsun S4. Seems all US phones work ok, just not as well. Perfectly ok for a short trip.
- Will out of contract Verizon iPhone4s work with foreign sim? I'm traveling to England for about two months and I would like to take a smartphone. However I have AT&T iPhone 4s and it is not out of contract therefore I can't get it unlocked and put in a SIM card from the UK. My friend has offered me her old iPhone 4s and she is with Verizon. I'm not familiar with Verizon at all so I'm not sure if I can slap a SIM card in there or if Verizon will unlock it if I call and get the codes like I could with AT&T.
- Will a unlocked sprint iphone 5 work on verizon? My girl friend is due for an upgrade on her sprint and i wanted to know if we can get the iphone 5 have sprint unlock it and use it on my verizon, is that possible?
- Will a t mobile sim card work in a sprint unlocked iphone 4? I wanted to buy this iPhone 4 that was sprint unlocked and I have a t mobile sim card, so will I be able to use my t-mobile sim card in the iPhone?
- Sprint, IPhone4s. 2 year contract? I want the iPhone 4s from sprint. My mom wants to sign the 2 year contract and the people who work there said they had to check her phone credit. My mom doesn't have the best of credit, but they said "phone credit". Does that mean they'll check only her history with phones or everything?
