Will out of contract Verizon iPhone4s work with foreign sim?

I'm traveling to England for about two months and I would like to take a smartphone. However I have AT&T iPhone 4s and it is not out of contract therefore I can't get it unlocked and put in a SIM card from the UK. My friend has offered me her old iPhone 4s and she is with Verizon. I'm not familiar with Verizon at all so I'm not sure if I can slap a SIM card in there or if Verizon will unlock it if I call and get the codes like I could with AT&T.

Not familiar with unlocking since we were under contract when we went. Slipping in another sim does not work on IPhone 4s. It does work on Ipads that use sims with no problem, like att or Ipad 3(verizon). You can ask your phone company for an international plan for the time of your vacation. It's a little more expensive but works flawlessly all over europe

You should ask your friend to see about it for you as far as asking Verizon about it. It should be able to accept SIMs once it is unlocked.

  • Verizon Droid sim work in a Verizon Iphone 4s? Okay. So I understand that the Ipone 4s takes a Micro-sim. So my question is, If I cut my regular sim for my droid phone from verizon to a Micro Sim to put in my Verizon Iphone 4s will it work? Please answer if you have done this before. My boss gave me the droid and its an older one, It has about a 3in screen with a keyboard but it is a smart phone. I'm on unlimited minutes and texts and 6g of data. My phone is called a Droid Pro
  • Using your iphone in a foreign country, contract or bill? I live in England and am going on holiday to Crete, Greece. If i use my minutes, texts and data whilst i'm over there will it count as my contract or will it make me pay extra, if so, how much are texts likely to be?
