Will my Verizon iPhone 5 work with Straight talk?
My verizon bill is way too expensive and I need to cut down on bills. So I was wondering if I can switch my Verizon iPhone to straight talk and if it would still run on the verizon towers like some of the straight talk phones do?
Only the ones that run on GSM. Your phone will work on Verizon as well as CRICKET and Revol. Those are the only other alternatives. Straight Talk is pretty strict when it comes to CDMA phones being on their network (what your phone is)-- but they are okay for other GSM phones.
Straight Talk just announced that they will allow Verizon phones on the Straight Talk network. You just have to buy a code from Straight Talk that allows only Verizon phones to work on their network.
I don't think that Straight Talk allows Verizon Iphones on their bring your own phone program. You will need to go to the Straight Talk website to see what phones are allowed to be brought from Verizon to Straight Talk. I think the reason that they are not allowing Verizon Iphones is because you can buy a Iphone from Straight Talk.
They allow iPhones but you have to buy a code that will make it work. They sell them at walmart. It took my husband a few tries with it online then on the phone with straight talk but he finally got it working. I guess they only allow phones on the 3G network. So the iPhone 5 won't work because it is 4G. If you have a iPhone 4s or lower they will work. And yes even the first iPhone out works with it, that is what my husband had to downgrade to- and old phone.
Hope this helps!
