Will reseting my iphone 5 delete everything? Like pictures, apps, and phone numbers?

My phone glitches a lot and my friend told me to hold down the home and lock butten but I read online that this wipes everything away, i just want my phone to stop glitching, what should i do? The glitiches are mostly the screen freezing and i can't lock it, imessage won't load sometimes, and if i try to play certen songs it won't play and glitch

No it won't delete everything on your iphone as I've tried it and it doesn't actually do anything. If your friend meant just click the home and lock key down without holding down it just takes a screenshot of the menu.

I hit yes, thinking I could, but then I realized I wanted to make my own world.l from scratch. I have reset my phone many times before and I know what it does.
