Will updating my iOS make some Apps incompatible?

I want to update the OS on my iPhone from iOS 7 to iOS 9. I want to upgrade cos I want some of the new games that aren't compatible with iOS 7. However I'm worried that this will make the games I already have on my iPhone incompatible. Is there any way to find out if they'd be incompatible with iOS 9 without actually upgrading to iOS 9? It doesn't seem to say on the page for each App on the App Store whether it's compatible or not, it just mentions the earliest iOS that it's compatible with (eg. "Requires iOS 6.0 or later"). I have a lot of games on my iPhone and I don't want to lose any of them! (I'm actually thinking of buying a cheap phone as my actual phone and just keeping my iPhone as an iOS games console).

No. They will still work with the new version of iOS. There may be updates for the apps from the App Store so they can use the new features in iOS 9.

  • Will updating my iPhone apps affect my phone speed as how updating the Operating System (OS) will? Currently I'm using the iPhone 5s on iOS 8.3 I know if I were to update my phone to the latest OS I may notice some slowdown on my phone's performance, since it may not have the "muscle" to handle certain functions. Many apps now are optimised for iOS 9 and/or the 6th generation phones. Will my 5s' speed performance slow down if I update my apps? Will the app's performance slow down?
  • Will updating my iphone 4s iOS erase my apps? I have an update available to a version 6 for my iPhone 4s, I have the memory space needed but I'm afraid i might lose my apps and the data that is with em. Will it erase my apps? Or will they be there when the update finishes?
  • Will updating from ios 6.0.1 to ios 6.1.2 remove everything? I know that if you 'Majorly' update your iPhone it will erase everything from your iPhone like updating ios 4 to ios 6, but what if you are just updating your iPhone from ios 6.0.1 to ios 6.1.2 on the same version, is there any difference or it will also remove everything?

Okay my iPhone 3gs has an ios of 4.2.1 i downloaded apps that is compatible with that ios so why does it say that it is incompatible with my iPhone. My iPhone is up to date or updated. WhY? I downloaded the apps through iTunes and when i sync my iPhone to the computer then put the apps in it it say it is incompatible with the iPhone! Why?
