Will upgrading iPhone 4 to iOS 6 completely delete jailbreak?

I know it will get rid of jailbreak, which I don't mind at all. However, I have read through different forums that sometimes the jailbreak is never completely deleted because some files still remain in phone. I would not want that to be the case (I might as well not upgrade, I don't want those files possibly causing any performance problems).

So, what say you? I want to try iOS 6 on my iPhone 4.

I think this might depend on which jailbreak you've been using.

If you're using the really popular one and your last jailbroken version was iOS 5.1.1, I believe doing a full restore on your phone will "un-jailbreak" it. I'm not sure about versions prior to that.

I had my 4S jailbroken in iOS 5, then when iOS 6 came out, I restored my phone through iTunes and installed the updated version and I haven't had any problems with it at all since.

  • Will upgrading from iOS 5 to iOS 6 delete ANY data? I want to upgrade my iPhone 4 from iOS 5 to iOS 6 DIRECTLY FROM THE iPHONE using the software update option in Settings >> General. Will doing this delete ANY contacts, emails, apps, notes and calendar reminders? I'm MOST concerned about CONTACTS. I have more than 1000 of Contacts.
  • Why won't my iPhone 4s let me delete the contacts completely? I have deleted the contact but when I go and send a new text their name still pops up, but when you press the name to text them the number comes up. For example if the name comes up "Sally" and you tap it it'll show up as "(123)456-7890." But I want to delete the contact completely! How? I have already deleted their text as well. But there number still pops up.
