Wireless internet on my PC problem?
I have a router and modem setup in my living room, connected to the phone line. My Windows 7 desktop PC is setup next to it, it is connected to the Ethernet, and can pick up the Wi-Fi. I decided to move it into my room, which is a few extra metres away. I connected up my PC with plans to connect it to the wi-fi and use that. The PC not only doesn't connect to it, it doesn't even acknowledge that it's there. I don't get this, I have an iPhone, and a laptop that I can use in my room and connect instantly. I've checked my pcs wireless drivers they are all updated, even reinstalled them. I have done countless things with the router settings, to no avail. I just want the wireless to connect to my PC, which I KNOW IT CAN. Any help? I'm thinking it's something to do with the cords, but I'm yet to test that.
Sometimes security is involved. Disable the Ethernet (LAN) and disable the wireless, then recoonect the wireless it should prompt for the password. If that doesn't get you there, then look at the router setup maybe reset, other than that it's then wireless card in you PC/Laptop.
Is your desktop able to pickup Wi-Fi? You may need an adapter card or a D-Link USB adapter, $60AU, they only use one at a time. In laptops the Wi-Fi adapter turns off to conserve battery when on Ethernet, advanced power settings?
Try turning of Wi-Fi and turn it on again.
