Would and Iphone vga adapter to hdmi work for surround sound?

I have a connector for my iphone that connects from the charger port to hdmi, would this work to play audio to my surround sound speakers or would I have to get an Aux cord adapter?

Without knowing what the make and model is of your surround sound speakers, there's no way to even guess.

VGA does not have audio. If you mean you have the Apple "Lightning to HDMI" video output adapter, that's got audio.

Note that fakes/clones often do not work properly, only the real Apple ones.

If your surround sound system works with audio from other HDMI-connected devices then you should get audio from the phone via HDMI.

Whether you get surround sound or not depends on the media you are playing on the phone and the capabilities of the surround system.

If you play something with digital 5.1 surround it should work (though I don't know if the phones support playing that type of media).

For any "stereo" audio source, you will only get surround if your audio system includes the specific "Dolby Pro Logic" surround decode - and many makers seem to omit that format, only including the digital versions.

If it has it, just about any stereo music or TV etc. Since the 70s should give full surround; without it, stereo is just stereo.

Hmm not sure on that one if you have a Best deal in town near you check them they have adapters like that I would go ask them http://bestdealdenver.com

On most phones that use the mini to standard pci or Hdmi connector the chord is the same chord. Easy enough to try and see.
