You have dialed the wrong number. Please check and try again

When someone tries to call me on my number it says "You have dialed the wrong number. Please check and try again". However the number they dial(my number) is right. I can call anyone with no problems whatsoever. When they return the call It says it's wrong. Why?
Also for the past few weeks when someone tries calling me, instead of the ID, the number shows up.something like this: 00 x (xxxx) xx-xx-x. This is rather strange. I want to be able to receive calls and not only make calls. The sending and receiving of messages works just fine. No problems.
I have never had any problems before. Did this happen to any of you before? Why and how did you fix it? By the way I'm on T-mobile, iPhone.
Thank you

Added (1). This is all happening in the uk with uk numbers. And yes the formatting it's strange to me as well. 00 7 (1234) 56-78-9 (e.g)

Added (2). @Andi
I checked and they are all set to English UK.
When I set up the phone everything worked perfectly fine and then suddenly it started with the weird format. I never changed any of the settings before that so it should have been ok.

Only your carrier can fix this.

That number formatting seems strange… (if you r in uk)

the 00 is the international prefix in Europe so might not work elsewhere (+ is more generic.)
thats normally followed by a country code eg 44 for uk, the use of a single digit is allowed, eg 1 for usa.

Phone numbers are released in blocks, so if. Some telcos haven't yet updated their lists, that tel co can block access to your dialling.code (+44 7 xxx eg)… If thats the case callers using a particular telco will be unable to reach you and will never have been able to.

if your callers are outside europe using 00 instead of + to call you might not work.

Then you have set the wrong country for your location.
Go to settings, that looks like it is in English but not English (UK)

The iPhone changes the presentation according to the "international settings" language / country.

Maybe you have it set to English (US) which would tie in with a
011 1 (555) 123 1234 formatting for an internation prefix.

011 is the international country access code in the US
Then a country code (1 - US/Canada, 44 UK, 7 would be russia )
00 is used in most of the rest of the world

  • Will apple check my broken iPhone if I try to return it? My last shred of hope. My dad is getting knee surgery so I don't want him to be paying for anything. I can use my old phone. My iPhone 3gs got water damaged. I know that it has water sensors but, if i return it in the box with all the other stuff, will they check? It's not totally broken, when you plug it in to charge it just flashes the charge me sign and doesn't charge. At least it is showing signs of life though…
  • What happens when you try to call someone who has blocked my number? I want to know if my friend has blocked my number. What would happen if they had blocked my number, and I tried to call them? Using an iPhone 5s, with the latest iOS update.
