Can an iphone locator be wrong?

Someone just showed up at my house asking if I had their iphone, they say they lost it an hour ago. I guess there's some sort of locator on them. I don't own an iphone, so I'm not sure about all of the details. I haven't left my house or had any company since yesterday. Why or how is it saying it is here? I'm not tech savvy, so if anyone can explain, it would be much appreciated. I hate to think this random person thinks I stole their phone.

The "find my phone" function is not very precise. The location of the person's phone could have been anywhere close around your house in your neighborhood. The person was probably going to every house around you. Maybe they found it at one of those houses.

The location is not that accurate. Relax.

It shows my iphone right where I'm at, and I've even tested it walking to each side of the house and it moves to that side on the map, so its very accurate in some cases. I'm sure there are other map locations where it might be off a little, but its definitely very close to your place if not there because its not off by much when it is. My guess is your neighbor stole their phone.

  • What is wrong with this iphone? And can it be fixed, and if so.how? Ugh, i'm having trouble? My cuz came to me recently with an iphone whose os seems to be erased, i don't know, i'm just saying, anyhow, when the device is turned on, a blank black screen appears, with what seems to be the apple logo on it, however it does nothing else, so. Can anyone tell me what when wrong?
  • What is the best iPhone locator app? I know none of them are perfect, but my phone had some of my favorite apps on it… Bla bla blaa… But I think it may have been stolen and I want proof, and more importantly, I don't want my phone to be lost again. It needs to be compatible with preferably a Macbook Pro 10.6.8 Mac OS X (no Retina, I don't think there's Mountain Lion), but just an iPad works too. Find my iPhone could work, but I can't find it on my Mac because it is only compatible with iPhone and iPad
  • Sprint family locator Iphone 5 For college my parents activated the family locator for sprint and i have an iphone 5. I don't like that and would like to know how to get by without them knowing where i'm at all times. Is there anything i can do to make it not work like turn something on or off on the phone or an app thanks in advance
  • Reset My iPhone! Can't Call or Receive Calls! What's Wrong? I have the iPhone 4S with 16 gigs. I Reset it and everything seems to be normal and I can text but when someone calls me it rings then goes to voicemail so I can't receive calls and when I call someone it doesn't ring it just says "calling" then hangs up. What do I do?
