Can I use any SIM card for an iphone 4?

I currently have an lg rumor touch but my best friend is giving me her old iPhone 4. My lg rumor is just a basic phone (not a smart phone) so I was wondering if that SIM card would work with the iPhone. I'm not switching carriers or anything though. Would I have to do something to the SIM card in order to activate the phone? Please help

Thanks

Added (1). Also, would the iphone not have certain features because i'm using the SIM card from a basic phone?

Unfortunately no they use a Micro Sim

Iphone 4/4s/and 5 take MicroSims… You will need to see your carrier's store to get a free micro sim for the iphone, and also do the account feature setup for the iphone

or cut your normal sim yourself to make it a microsim… And then call your carrier customer service to setup the iphone.

the store is faster

Yes and no,

you can cut the full size SIM down to a micro SIM with scissors.
look it up on youtube for directions and be careful, if you cut through the chip the SIM will be useless.
failing that ask your carrier to send you a replacement micro SIM

there's no special activation method.

No

the iphone 4 uses a mini sim card, which you need to buy.

The iPhone 4 would either have to be on the same carrier as your Rumor Touch or unlocked in order to accept your SIM card. Also since the 4 uses microSIMs you would have to either cut yours to size or get a microSIM with your number on it.

There's no smartphone SIM & basic phone SIM. A SIM is a SIM.

My iPhone 4 used the same SIM I had from my 2003 purchase of a Nokia 5100 (4 years before the iPhone debuted) & I would have continued to use it on my new iPhone 5 but it wouldn't have fit since that iPhone uses nanoSIMs, but it proves my point.
