Cleaning the iPhone 4s charging port?

Please help me guys. My friend gave me a charger for my iPhone and I noticed that it had this green stuff on it. I don't know If it's gum or not. But it's messing up my phone. Now a lot of times my phone thinks its in dock mode. And it mostly does it when I listen to music. I'll be listening to music and then it randomly just stops. And then If I play my music without the headphones it doesn't do it that much. I don't know how I can clean it. My friend said just turn it off and get a q tip with rubbing alcahol on it and see if it dissolves whatever is inside it. But I don't know if that would damage it or not. And I would by the new part for my phone but nobody has those star screw that small for the iPhone 4s. Please help me guys. Will the rubbing alcahol ruin the charging port. I can't disconnect the battery cause I don't have the screws to do it. Is it safe to do it just with the phone turned off. How long should I leave my phone off if I use the rubbing alcahol

Yep should be fine. Rubbing alcohol evaporates quickly, give it 5 minutes to dry if you're worried.
And remember to do a hard power off before cleaning.

  • Why port forwarding on port 80? I have a foscam home security camera and it needs port forwarding on port 80 if I want to use my iphone to view it from outside. Surely enough, it works as soon as I open that port. But isn't port 80 open by default? Else how could I view http websites in the first place. I don't get it. It's already open so why open it again?
  • What is different of the new iPhone 5 charging port? Since the iPhone 5 has a new charging port that is smaller than the original, is the charging port the same as the Andriod charging port? Or is it completely different? I have an Andriod phone and I was wondering if I was able to get the iPhone 5, will I be able to use my Andriod chargers for the iPhone 5? What is different about the iPhone 5 charging port?
