Connect to Wi-Fi in Europe /South America / Australia with iPhone 4S?

I have a Virgin Mobile iPhone 4S
I have plans to Go to Italy and London in January, Rio de Janeiro in February and Sydney in March
3 Months of Straight Travel However,
I understand I will NOT Be able to access my phone minutes or anything overseas; But,
While in these countries, Will I be able to access the Wi-Fi signals at restaurants and places including my hotels and download a Wi-Fi phone app that will enable me to make calls and use data on Wi-Fi

YOU can still still use Wi-Fi weather you have access to your phones minutes or not.
A perfect APP would be http://viber.com/. Just make sure the people your are calling have this app on their phones too. Or you can pay a little extra using skype to make phone calls.see, The possibilities are endless as long as you are connect to Wi-Fi.

My local AT&T store says my phone will work fine but they suggest a special program to permit more texting and calling at a cheaper rate but no internal modifications to the phone are needed. Want to make sure this is correct. Anyone traveled to SA with an IPhone?
  • Will an Iphone 5 that i buy in America, work fully in Australia? - 2 So if i buy an Iphone 5 UNLOCKED in America, will it still be fully functional in Australia with any Aussie carrier without jailbreak? Apparently there's different voltages in America then Australia so i wouldnt be able to charge it?

  • Why main characters in South Park use iPhone? Main character in South Park: Stan, Kyle and Eric (don't know about Kenny… ) use iPhone. Is some kind of commercial or authors just screwing around with Apple?
