Data Roaming in my home country?
I recently discovered a data roaming switch in my iPhone while playing around with it and want to know what Data Roaming exactly does. I'm with AT&T and have unlimited data. I live in USA and don't plan on going "Abroad". Will I get charged even in my home country?
Roaming is when you are allowed to connect to another networks towers to get calling service for your phone if you are in an area that is not covered by your provider.
Data roaming is when you are allowed to connect to another networks towers to get data service for your phone if you are in an area that is not covered by your provider. This feature may be deactivated if your phone was sold directly from your provider.
If you allow your phone to roam to another network, you may charged high fees for not using your network for service. I would not enable any roaming on your phone, unless it is an emergency. You can be charged whatever your provider wants to charge you for roaming. Roaming to another providers network is how people incur high cell phone bills that they can't pay off.
