It needs to be put in something that will absorb water, that's why people use rice. You can use anything that will have the same affect. In saying that, I feel you may have left it too late. If there's still water in the device than some of the components may have rusted or be compromised and the phone will be useless. Your best hope is to try to turn it on and hope for the best.
