Dropped iphone in water, screen doesn't work?

It's an iphone 4 (not 4s) that i've had for about two years. Dropped it in water yesterday and it was completely submerged, i took it out and dried it off and the screen wasn't working (it was on but it wasn't responding to touch) and the led light on the back was on. So i put it in rice and took it out just now and the led light is off but the screen still isn't working. Its back in rice now but is it worth keeping it in there longer or is it a lost cause?

also i have an upgrade in may and i did have insurance on it, but they don't make iphone 4's anymore so i don't know how that would work? Do you think they (verizon) would give me my upgrade early?

Already its been a day in the rice and there's no more use in it. You must have put it in rice before switching on the phone after drying it. Put it near some heat source, not so strong enough to burn it but just to get it warm. Possibly you would get a brand new Iphone 5S:-)

  • IPhone in water, screen doesn't work. Can it be fixed? I dropped my phone in the sink which was full of water/dishes. I grabbed it out immediately but it was fully submerged. The phone still works, I'm getting texts and alerts, but the screen won't work. I can see everything but the touch screen isn't working. I can't even slide it to unlock it. I will try the rice thing but I'm wondering if it would work on the screen, or if I need to replace the screen. Or buy a new phone:/
  • I dropped my iPhone in water. Sound won't work! What to do? I have a shelf on my desk and my phone was sitting on the shelf. Somehow my phone was knocked down… Into my fish tank! Now the speakers don't work. What to do? P.S. I've tried rice… It takes a very long time. I'm kiinndaa desperate. Short methods please? Thanks (: Yes my fish is okay (: Now it won't turn off!
  • I dropped my Iphone in water - no water damage showing on indicator? Here is the situation. I dropped my Iphone 5 in the toilet (I hadn't peed yet so all good there). Immediately switched it off, dried it and put it in a bag of rice. This was at about 6 p.m yesterday. This morning without turning it on I opened up the sim compartment to check the circle for water damage (checked online and apparently this is where to check for water damage). The indicator was white. It is back in the rice but I was wondering - when you think it will be ok to turn back on?
  • I dropped my iphone in water and doesn't want to turn on? I put it in rice for 1 day then i turned it on and the phone turned on with lines in the middle of the screen what should i do?
