Got caught steeling from WalMart?

I tried to steal an iPhone 5 case (I know, a very dumb and low descision) while I bought some other things. Security stopped me at the door and escorted me to a small room. I instantly pulled it out of my pocket and gave it to them to not make their job any harder, as the guilt was eating me alive already. They took my info including my SS number, and they said they wouldn't call the cops since I was complying. They took my photo and told me that it wouldn't be used in public but would in WalMarts database. They said that if it happens again I could be arrested and/or banned from WalMart stores, then they let me go. It was kind of a warning I guess. The reason I'm here is to know if there's a catch… I've been reading other incidents from people who also stole from items equal in value from Walmart, and some are saying they get nothing in the mail from Walmart, and some are saying they get a fine from Walmart. I'm just wondering if that's going to happen to me or if they will report this to the police? I would appriciate any answers to help put my mind at ease.

I would be more worried about whether it ends up as a police report, because all jobs in your future will show theft when they run your record, and it will screw up your entire job chances when you are older. Don't ever make that mistake again and be thankfull that this didn't' get filed with the police.

There's no way to know. Maybe some stores fine people. Maybe this store will not.

As what they told you THEY WILL NOT REPORT this one to the police. Isn't this hard for you to understand? How old are you anyway, it seems that you have a hard time understanding things in your life including this one, it is STEALING not STEELING from Walmart. There's no such word as steeling in the dictionary. You are not yet banned from Walmart that means you can still shop and buy at Walmart but if you steal once again, that is the cue to take you to the police. I hope you understand this one. You can't keep your hands to yourself I suppose. You are what a kleptomaniac?

Wal Mart Will ask for restitution, if you do not comply they will get the Police involved.

You should have stolen a grammer book

I used to work in retail theft and we prosecuted everyone over the age of 8. I don't understand how a store can fine you. A judge can order you to pay a fine after adjudication. It sounds like they don't want to bother with a small petty theft since prosecution will cost more in man hours than the price of the merchandise.
