How many days should i keep my iPhone in rice for?

So I dropped my iphone in the toilet for a split second and it worked fine right after and then five minutes later it turned off and the led light was flashing. I put it in rice for 24 hours then tried plugging it in my computer since my lock button is broke and i can't turn it on. Nothing happened except instead of the led light flashing it just stayed on and then when i unplugged it it started flashing again. I'm leaving it in rice now for longer. Is my iphone permanetly broke or is their hope?

"… For a split second and it worked fine right after and then five minutes later it turned off and the led light was flashing." From this statement, I have to assume that the water didn't penetrate to the circuit boards right away. And it follows that since it turned itself off and started exhibiting odd behavior that the water made contact with the circuit while it was energized. That is never a good thing. It certainly won't hurt to put it in rice again. I would suggest using fresh out of the bag rice and placing that and the phone together in a tupperware type container with the lid sealed shut or a ziplock baggie closed tightly around them. This will prevent humidity in the air from absorbing into the rice and ruining it's ability to dry out the phone. Leave them in a warm place undisturbed for two to three days, then try again. Unfortunately, if that doesn't work, it is time to have it either repaired or replaced. My personal guess is that this will be the case, but it won't hurt to try before you spend $$$$ on a phone.
