How to make sure an iPhone is unlocked and not blacklisted?

Making a purchase tomorrow for an iPhone 4 for my sons Christmas present but how can I make sure it's unlocked and not blacklisted

I believe I answered another question of you just 5 min ago. (LOL) - Also make sure the iPhone is from ATT not from verizon or Sprint is a pain in the *** to unlock from those companies(if is possible)

to check if is blacklisted you need the IMEI ( Settings - General - About - look for IMEI number (long one)

to check if is unlocked

Read a little in those search from google.

Hope it help.

Meet your seller at the phone store and have them verify it's not stolen. Then have the phone transferred into your name while the seller is still there. After that they can't report it stolen.

Use the phone for awhile and make sure it functions properly before buying.

  • I recently sold my old iPhone and I'm not sure if all of my photos and media are completely erased Is there a way to check some how? I did some sort of reset setting on the phone… Not sure if it was a factory reset or what all I know is when I sold it the phone still required the password to unlock it so I'm not entirely to sure if all my stuff is still there or not.
  • I just want to make sure that this not a scam? I put an ad on craigslist for my iPhone. This guy said he wanted it, so I told him to send the money to my Paypal account. He said he did but I don't can't see it in my account. I got an email from Paypal service@intl.Paypal.com say I have receive a patent of $ to my account. Showing me the address I should send it to witch is in Nigeria. He told me I have to send the item first and then they'll send me my money. I just want to know that this is not a scam. Some help me
  • How to make sure if the iPhone is unlocked? I recently won a giveaway on a certain website of the iPhone 5, but they're located in the UK. I'm not from the UK. It's legitimate, I'm sure. But that's not my problem. My problem is that he's implying that the iPhone's unlocked, but how can I be so sure? Is there something on the packaging that indicated whether the phone inside is locked or unlocked?
  • Having issues I'm not sure if my iPhone is unlocked or not? So I bought a iPhone 4S and I did the update of ios7. I tried activating it with a net10 sim but it's not working it dosent get signal. I called the company and all they said is that it might not be unlocked. They need to change the APN of the phone but I can't click of the APN settings. So I'm wondering how can I get it unlocked or is there anyway around to get to the APN settings.
