I'm moving to South Africa, what is it like?
So basically I'm moving to South Africa in July, and I don't really know much about it… I'm 14 and I live in the US (New York.) Neither of my parents are South African, I'm half Italian and German, we're moving to South Africa because my mom's job got transferred. So-I have some questions:
1. Is it really racist there? One of my best friends is black and like she might visit me or something and I wouldn't want her to feel totally uncomfortable. I know apartheid only ended there in like the 90s, and also my mom said the town we're living in is mostly white, so will everyone be really racist? I'm white btw.
2. Does everyone speak English? This is the one I'm most scared about bc my mom said she knows my school is taught in English, but she doesn't know if all the kids will speak to each other (or me) in English. Do South Africans like speaking English or do most of them speak Afrikaans to each other? Again most of my school is apparently white so i don't know if that makes a difference.
3. Do they have all the same stuff? Like technology-wise, will I get to keep my iPhone and MacBook? Will most kids my age have that stuff?
4. Is school easier, harder, etc?
5. Is it safe? When I go into the city here I never feel unsafe (NYC btw) but I heard South Africa is so dangerous. My parents are getting a security system and a gate.
6. Do the kids like the same stuff as me in like music and everything?
7. Will they hate me bc I'm American and my accent and all?
Its hot
What is your obsession with South Africa?
You keep asking questions, but with different identities?
Here you pretend to be a married 38 year old:
And here you claim to be a Norwegian who is currently living in the UK:
And here you seem to know a lot about SA (Although not completely correct):
So which is it?
- Will My IPhone Work in South Africa? I have an I Phone 4 and I'm going to South Africa for two weeks. I want to text to my family and friends and occasionally make a call. My local AT&T store says my phone will work fine but they suggest a special program to permit more texting and calling at a cheaper rate but no internal modifications to the phone are needed. Want to make sure this is correct. Anyone traveled to SA with an IPhone?
- Will my i phone 6s charger fry if I use a USA to South Africa adaptor? Going to South Africa and I bought the power converter. I'm bringing my iPhone 6s. Some people have cautioned me to bring extra chargers due to the possibility of my phone charger getting fried. Any tips/ ways to prevent this? Also will a portable charger fry? This is the charger https://www.amazon.com/...005X1Y7I2/
- Will an American iPhone work in south Africa? I'm going to go to America for a while. I plan on buying a iPhone from there. So I just wanted to know that when I come back to SA, will it still work
- Why main characters in South Park use iPhone? Main character in South Park: Stan, Kyle and Eric (don't know about Kenny… ) use iPhone. Is some kind of commercial or authors just screwing around with Apple?
