I was wondering if I can add a different phone number to my iPhone myself?

I have a app called text free and wanted to know if I can link the number the app gave me to my iPhone 5c. I don't have service and use my email for FaceTime and iMessage. But I wanted to link the number from the app to the phone to be able to call from the phone and not the app.

No, phone calls go through celltowers which you won't be using without service.

The only way is to get service and port the app number to your account. Otherwise you will be forced to use the number with the app, with Wi-Fi as you do now.

It can't be done. The built-in phone app is the only app that can use the cell phone hardware to make calls, for security reasons. And it gets its phone number from the SIM card.

  • Will tmobile let me add a different phone to our line? Sadly, I just finished paying my iPhone 5s and it got water damage. I don't have insurance anymore. I doubt they ll be able to do anything with my damaged phone =l so I was wondering if I can buy an used iPhone from the same carrier and just replace it? Will everything be the same again?
  • Why is mobile sending number different to my number? I recently bought an Iphone and did a sim swap so I could keep my phone number. Everything has been ok. However, when I send an imessage it shows the recipient a different number to mine. I don't think this happens when I send a SMS. Presumably it's the original number for the new sim? Why is this?
  • Different phone but same sim number so will I have my old contacts stored or no? My iphone 6s broke so I will be having an iphone 5 instead as a temporary phone. I can easily ask through social media numbers yet I'm just wondering. Will have phone on Thursday.
  • How to log myself out of twitter on a different iphone? So basically, me and my boyfriend broke up and i'm still logged onto twitter on his phone. So I obviously don't want him still on my twitter. But I know he won't log out. Is there anything I can do on my iphone to log myself out of his one?
